For Voice comms, it's a toss up between ROGER WILCO and Microsoft's GAMEVOICE . One can have both proggies installed with no problems so a decision by consensus can be made later.

For planning and collaboration, MSN Messenger with Whiteboard can be very handy.
The Group Chat in MSN is a feature that can be very handy for collaboration as well.
